Latest Updates from Our Project:

Exciting comics to check out! + Payment info
over 3 years ago – Wed, Nov 09, 2022 at 01:25:26 PM

Hey Everyone!

Just a quick update about where we're at with fulfillment. The surveys, which will collect your address for physical rewards and give you the chance to purchase additional add-ons, will be coming pretty soon. I'm waiting a little longer while Kickstarter addresses the small handful of pledges that didn't go through. If you got a message about that, no worries! It usually just means a card has expired. But you will want to update your payment info as soon as possible because TOMORROW is the last day to do it before Kickstarter drops the pledge, which will mean you won't get your rewards. And no one wants that!

So this week, I've been uploading digital files, writing emails, etc. -- all to make sure your digital rewards make it to you smoothly and easily (except for the digital copies of the comic, which will be coming around the end of the year, when the art is finalized). And Aimée has been hard at work on the remainder of the flats, which are looking awesome!

In the meantime, here are a couple other campaigns to check out!

The first is AER HEAD 1 & 2 by Mindy Indy, which you may remember from a previous update. It ends on Tuesday, so I wanted to be sure to mention it again before time runs out! It was chosen as one of Kickstarter's "Projects We Love," which is super exciting! Here's a little more about it:

AER HEAD is the epic sci-fi/comedy series about Aereo Zephyr, teen surfer and lifeguard, who can sometimes see the future in his dreams.  In issue 1, he predicts a solar flare will wipe out New San Diego - can he save everyone in time? Aer struggles to grasp the potential of his power, but unwittingly unlocks a clue to figuring it out in issue 2!

Support AER HEAD here.

Next up is Sex, Spies, & Rock 'n Roll Volume 1 and 2. It's written by Jeff Douglas Messer, D. Trull, and Nicholas Christianson-Messer, with art by Tachadon Sakulsittachai, Miguel Guzman, Elena Ominetti, Erica Durante, M. Faoud, and Patrick Jones. Colors by Michael Woods and colors and letters by Jason Finestone.

Here's a little about it:

The 1980s. Music was loud. Fashion was louder.  The hottest days of the Cold War were filled with intrigue, danger, and adventure. It was up to the International Security Foundation, and its network of daring  secret agents to prevent the spies from other agencies from triggering a  war to end all wars.  And the planet. These are those tales.

Well, that's all I've got for now! I'll be sure to keep you in the loop as things move forward, and feel free to reach out with any questions!

Best, Sarah

Things are moving along!

Hey Everyone! Just wanted to give you a quick update. I'm in the process of working on the surveys that I'll be sending you. I'm giving Kickstarter time to address any charges that didn't go through (that most often happens when a card has expired). And after that, I'll send those surveys out to gather your shipping addresses and give you the chance to purchase any additional add-ons. Once those are all in, I'll send you your digital rewards -- except for the digital copies of the comic, which will be coming around the end of the year, when Aimée finishes up the colors.

And speaking of colors, Aimée just finished the flats for two more pages and they look awesome! I can't wait for you all to see the finished comic!

Also, because the campaign ended late at night and I wanted yesterday's update to focus on next steps, I haven't had a chance to thank the final group of backers in one of these updates, so I wanted to do that now. Thank you all so much!

Well, that's it for now. Keep an eye on your inbox for more updates as things move along!

A Strong Finish!!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Nov 04, 2022 at 08:23:48 PM

Woohoo! The campaign for No Spell Lasts Forever #1 ended last night, and it raised almost THREE TIMES its funding goal!! THANK YOU so much to all of you who backed it!! Your support means the world to me, and I'm genuinely humbled.

Ok, so what can you expect moving forward? Aimée Hawley is working on the flats and then colors as we speak. She's planning to wrap up by the end of December, and we'll send out digital copies of the comic shortly after. At the same time, we'll send the comic out for printing. We're expecting the turnaround to be about three weeks, which should put us at late January, meaning your printed comics should be arriving in your mailboxes in February.  All other digital rewards will be shared as soon as Kickstarter does its billing thing.

So here's the step-by-step:

  • I'll send out a survey through BackerKit, where you'll have the chance to purchase extra add-ons, provide your mailing address for physical rewards, and join my Substack (so keep an eye on your inbox, this will be coming soon).
  • Once Kickstarter does its billing thing, I'll share all your digital tier rewards EXCEPT for digital copies of the comic, which I'll be sharing separately after the colors are finished at the end of the year.
  • I'll send out a second message sharing all your digital add-ons.
  • If your tier rewards include a Substack interview or virtual event, I will reach out to you to coordinate.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to message me.

Thank you again for all of your support over the last month. I can't wait for you all to see the comic!! :)

Best, Sarah

No Spell Lasts Forever #1 Ends TOMORROW!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Nov 02, 2022 at 01:41:36 PM

Ok, we're in the home stretch! The campaign for No Spell Lasts Forever #1 ends TOMORROW! So if you want to snag any add-ons or share the campaign with anyone you think might be interested, now is the time! The campaign ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern tomorrow.

I'll send out an update on Friday with details about what to expect next, and I'll continue sending updates periodically afterward as we move forward with fulfillment. If you want to be sure to get all the info on future issues of No Spell Lasts Forever and my other projects, you'll want to subscribe to my Substack. You'll also get free comics and other freebies :)

As always, a HUGE thank you to the latest supporters of the campaign! Your enthusiasm for the comic is so encouraging!

And I want to shout out another exciting campaign! It's a collection of five issues of horror comics from Frank Forte and Asylum Press. There are three different titles included in the collection, Vampire Macabre, Fearless Dawn, and Vampires. Here's a little about it:

Are you a fan of the SHOCK/TERROR storytelling of EERIE & CREEPY  magazines? DC's HOUSE OF MYSTERY, HOUSE OF SECRETS, the TWILIGHT ZONE,  the horrors of TALES FROM THE CRYPT, or the twists of 2000 A.D.'s Future Shocks? If so, this collection of comics is for you. Five issues of twisted, gory pages that will keep your eyes bleeding until the very end.

Support the campaign here.

Well, that's all for now! Looking forward to a strong finish tomorrow!

Campaign Ends Thursday!
over 3 years ago – Mon, Oct 31, 2022 at 06:13:56 PM

Ok so how is it possible that the campaign for No Spell Lasts Forever #1 ends on Thursday?? This month has felt like about two days to me! Or I mean, a long weekend at most.

So if you know of anyone who you think would be interested in getting their very own copy of the comic, be sure to let them know about the campaign before 11:59 p.m. Eastern on November 3!

And, I want to make sure you all know about my Substack newsletter, Killer Tater Tots. I'll be continuing to send out updates as things move forward after the campaign ends, but the Substack is where to follow me if you want to know about future issues of No Spell Lasts Forever and other projects. You can subscribe to my Substack here (the newsletter is free, btw).

I also want to highlight another campaign going on right now called Cthulu vs. Uncle Sam, by Jay Piscopo and Scott Harris-King. It's got time travel, monster-fighting, and fate-of-the-world stakes! Plus some pretty great variants, including the Fantastic Four homage below.

Support Chtulu vs. Uncle Sam here.

And of course, a HUGE thank you to the latest backers ofNo Spell Lasts Forever #1!

I'm completely in awe of how much support the campaign has received! We're at a little over $3,000, and I'm so incredibly grateful! If we could squeeze in a handful more pledges during the next few days, it would go a long way toward what we're able to do with the comic, merch, etc.

Thank you again for everything, it means a lot to me!

Best, Sarah
